About me:

Money, as with most people, is an issue for me, but I have different issues than many.  I have never had a problem overspending (never bought a new car, etc.) or getting jobs that pay enough to support a decent lifestyle.  My problem is that I have bigger dreams, and money (acquiring it and having enough) gets in the way of my dreams.

What are my dreams?  Some of them are clear.  Others have yet to reveal themselves to me, but expressing these dreams is not the point of this blog, and definitely not the point of this specific post.  So, I will sum up all my dreams into one clear concise dream…I WANT CONTROL OVER MY LIFE.  I want to be able to decide how and when my time gets spent.  Thus, a “normal” job doesn’t fit into my life, though I have one right now.

How do I accomplish gaining control of my life?  By buying it back from civilization.  We are all born with some type of debt to society.  If we weren’t born with this debt, we would be free to roam around hunting/gathering if we really wanted.  Or, maybe find a nice piece of land on a bay somewhere and fish for our sustenance.

Obviously, this is not an option.  There are too many people on this planet, with too few resources, to allow this type of behavior.  Civilization/society was created to allow large groups of people to function more efficiently, though it is by no means perfect at allocating resources.

So, I need to payoff my civilization debt before I’m truly free.  How?  Well, this blog is one step in the process.  I will be using it to help me focus on all the steps I need to do in order to buy my life back.  Hopefully, along the way, I will provide you with some ideas, insights, and/or support with your money goals.

Background:

I’m an accountant and trained intelligence analyst, with many years of experience in the business world.  I currently work as a management consultant.

Oh, and for those that are interested, I’m a single thirty something, living in Washington , DC …and I have a long way to go to reach my dream.
